Camp Ailihpomeh.
The mission of Camp Ailihpomeh (Hemophilia spelled backwards) is to serve the needs of boys from age seven to seventeen with bleeding disorders, providing a camping experience for a group of children who have traditionally been excluded from participating in other summer camp programs. The experience of camping with other children in a natural outdoor setting strengthens the child’s ability to cope with the daily physical and emotional challenges of a disability and/or chronic illness.
Camp Ailihpomeh is a six day camp held on the beautiful camp grounds of Camp John Marc in Bosque County.
The following are eligibility requirements for attending camp:
Males with a diagnosis of Hemophilia A or Hemophilia B, severity of less than or equal to 20% or Type 3 vonWillebrand disease (only due to space)
Campers ages 7-14 (turning 7 by the first day of camp)
Leadership ages 15-17 (turning 15 by the first day of camp)
Camper must be followed at one of the participating Hemophilia Treatment Centers (HTC) listed on the Links and Contacts page. Children not followed by an HTC are not eligible. Children who have moved to another state and are seen by the HTC in that other state are not eligible. Children in another state who are still followed by an HTC in Texas for their primary Hemophilia care are eligible.
El Paso patients who are not attending the El Paso camp will be invited. El Paso patients cannot attend both camps due to limited resources and space. El Paso patients are subject to the same eligibility rules.
Information about the registration process is made available to eligible individuals in early to mid April by your HTC. The deadline for submitting the application will be May 31. If you have not received registration information and are eligible to attend, please contact your HTC.
